Jewelry Care Tips From Designer Sharon Scelza
Polishing
Fine quality jewelry is made with precious metals, pearls, gemstones, crystals & various hand-blown glasses.
Silver tarnishes, a process caused by oxidation. Polish by gently rubbing with a soft polishing cloth.
Cleaning
Avoid dipping your jewelry of any kind in any type of liquid cleaner. It can be harmful to pearls and many stones. It will also remove intentional antiquing on metal work.
Storing
Store in air tight zip lock plastic bags.
Beaded jewelry should be stored flat or hanging to prevent kinks or bending.
Store pearls in a cloth or silk pouch to protect your pieces.
Avoid
Avoid contact with hairsprays, lotions and perfumes. Sterling silver jewelry can tarnish when exposed to these products.
Remove jewelry before cleaning, swimming, going into a hot-tub with chemicals, using cleaners and bleaches.
Enjoy!
